Features of Eaton Arc Flash Relay
1. Eaton arc flash relay EAFR offers advanced protection features, including Combined Current and Arc Sensing for enhanced accuracy and reliability, Instantaneous Overcurrent Protection protects against short circuits, and Breaker Failure Protection provides additional safety measures.
2. It utilizes current transformer inputs to monitor phase and ground currents. These measurements are used in conjunction with light sensing to ensure accurate and reliable arc flash detection. The current information can also be shared with other system components for coordinated protection.
3. It can use either point sensors or fiber loop sensors to detect arc flash events. Up to 12 point sensors or 3 loop sensors can be connected to each module. Point sensors, connected with copper wire, offer easier installation for OEMs. Fiber loop sensors provide flexibility and can be daisy-chained up to 100 meters.
4. The system includes comprehensive self-monitoring capabilities, verifying the integrity of internal functions and external connections to light sensors, loops, and current transformers.
5. The system offers rapid response times with four trip relays (7 ms) and two high-speed outputs (2 ms), along with a system failure relay.
