OVOD-L Arc Flash Protection System

The RDZ-017MT multi-channel Arc Flash Protection System is designed for high-speed shutdown of complete switchgears (KRU) in the event of short circuits (SC) inside the switchgear compartments and accompanied by an open electric arc. The system can be used to protect from 2 to 12 single cells, sections and groups of cells, i.e. it is able to perform the functions of centralized protection

The principle of operation of the proposed system is based on the control of the luminous flux (illumination) inside the compartments of the switchgear cells. At the same time, photosensors are installed in the switchgear compartments, for example, in the CT compartment and cable cutting, switch, bushing insulators, bus bridge compartment, etc. The RDZ-017M system has a built-in test and functional control that provides verification of the measuring body, connecting wires and photosensors.

Feature

  • Block structure of construction, in which the failure of any of the blocks does not affect the performance of the others;
  • The ability to connect up to 126 main udz units (bdst, bdvx, bdvs) to one data bus without repeaters;
  • Installation of udz on a din rail;
  • The possibility of simply increasing the number of blocks when expanding the section without changing the design of the udz;
  • High noise immunity due to the use of an industrial can data bus;
  • Transfer of the event log to the user’s pc via the built-in usb port;
  • Reduction of the length of the water supply, connecting cables from the actuators (mtz, zmn) and connecting cables to the circuit breaker drives.

Applications

  • Reduce the harm of arc light to human body;
  • Reduce damage to equipment caused by arc short-circuit faults;
  • Avoid transformer damage caused by bus failure;
  • Protect the dc system in the station;
  • Ensure the stable operation of power substations;
  • Thermal power plant electrical section switchgear;
  • Wind farm and photovoltaic station switchgear;
  • Large municipal engineering project;
